Participants brightness IndyCar Roar Before the Rolex 24 test

Michael Shank Racing turned some heads again this weekend at the "Roar Before the Replica Rolex 24" at Daytona International Speedway.

Daytona Prototypes twins, who co-pilots IndyCar and Firestone Indy Lights in the Rolex 51 in Daytona 24 this month were first and third fastest through three-day test at the 3.56 miles, 12-turn course.

Michael Valiante turned the fastest lap in entry No. 6, where he will join Gustavo Yacaman, Jorge Gonçalves and Chris Cumming behind the wheel for the race. Race champion, No. 60 Michael Shank Racing car was third fast this weekend, with Justin Wilson joining AJ Allmendinger, Marcos Ambrose and John Pew in the trial.

"I'm very proud of this range driver and I think we have an opportunity to do well - with these two cars," team owner Michael Shank said: "Let's focus on the things he has. Able to us last year. Want to win every year. To repeat is a curiosity, because I think it would be very difficult to do, but we have very strong car. "

The entrance to the No. 42 Team Sahlen, co-led by IZOD IndyCar Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year Simon Pagenaud and Bruno Junqueira had the second fastest time overall.

The teams were confronted with a variety of weather conditions, including four-time champion Dario Franchitti says IndyCar teams have contributed to better prepare for the endurance race.

"I hope he is hot when you get back to the race itself," said Franchitti, who will co-rive the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Daytona Prototype with Scott Dixon, Jamie McMurray and Joey Hand. "It's always good to have some races in the rain. All different conditions help because it just gives you more experience conditions that you may have within 24 hours."

The No. 02 entry was fifth overall, while the car with Charlie Kimball among fellow team members finished fourth. This was the first in a Daytona Prototype for Kimball, who drives the No. 83 Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing car in the IZOD IndyCar Series.

"It was really a great experience. Chip has developed a large group of people from three different series and I learn a lot from them," said Kimball. "I have a little time in the car and I had to get used to many things, like getting the use of a roof, lead to a new track and even driving at night, I did not drive. Evening because my karting days .'m really excited to join and contribute to the Rolex Replica 24 at Daytona. "
