GRAND-AM: Rockenfeller, Piquet AXR complete Rolex 24 Lineup
Acton expressed head race at Daytona with a full range of stars, after announcing this week that Mike Rockenfeller, Nelson Piquet Jr. and Felipe Nasr will join the 2010 Rolex 24 winning team in January around the clock marathon.
The trio will be placed in the regular season team alignment Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi and brothers Burt and Brian Frisselle on board the two PS Corvette.
"After the Roar, AXR finalize its share of drivers and cars, as it aims to produce the best chemistry between two cars at the best overall results, an advantage that other teams do not have," said team manager Gary Nelson.
Rockenfeller is no stranger to racing for Audi AXR was part of the winning team ladder almost three years ago. Nasr has made its debut at the Rolex Daytona Replica 24 this year, as the winner of the 2011 Sunoco Daytona Challenge, finishing in third place in a Michael Shank Racing Ford Riley.
Piquet Jr., meanwhile, will make his GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series debut after an impressive season NASCAR, which has seen the victories Brazilian second generation of the first class in both World Truck Series and Camping National.
It is unclear whether the team will drive robust JC France next year. The team manager Bob Johnson explains: "As always, JC is an important part of AXR and is willing to help in any capacity, including driving, if required."
